Ramblings about Hollywood : a good comedy drama " AS GOOD AS IT GETS"

                      

Why Hollywood films are really good in entertaining audiences irrespective of their genres?  With high production values and excellent actors , they make lot of worthy films with different subjects and different genres.. Usually when we think of Hollywood , the first things that comes to our mind are action and horror films... There are lot of films in both these genre which are made every year... But , there are really lot of good films with nice drama and with human values.... And today, I want to discuss one of the drama genre film " As Good As It gets".

Synopsis: Does any stranger spoke very bluntly with you ever? I hope you have experienced it definitely....Did you feel very lonely and wanted a good companion ? This film mainly revolves around three characters Melvin Udall, Carol and Simon. Melvin is a obsessive compulsory disorder writer who lives in next door to Simon, the gay artist.Carol is a waitress and mother of child with Asthma..  Melvin always go to the restaurant for dining and  he always sits in same place and only gets served by Carol. In fact, Carol is the only waitress who tolerate him. With some funny and unfortunate incidents, the three with different nature, get close to each other and the story goes as how they realize true meaning of life.

Interesting ideas: The main positive points of this film are story and the actors. Melvin was played by one of the great actors of the era Mr. Jack Nicholson , Carol by Helen hunt and Simon by Greg Kinnear. Of course, we should give credits to Cuba Gooding junior , who acted as gay friend to Simon. The smooth comedy through out the film is like a fresh breeze. This movie mainly tells us how to take our life positively and stop worrying about things happening in our lives. It tells about the fact that every one has problems of their own and we should go on in life "as good as it gets".

This film won two Oscars in the categories of " Best actor in a leading role" and " Best actress in a leading role" to Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt. The film was directed by James L. Brooks. Watch out in your free time ..........

My OSCAR winners prediction- who will be the winners

Already one month has been passed in 2010...time is so fast !!!!!! now..it's the time for Oscars and already nominations are out... of course...everybody knows "AVATAR" is the lead and it is the year of AVATAR ... Hollywood has seen a new wonder through avatar. It bagged 9 nominations for academy awards. And the tough competition it is facing from "Hurt locker", which is directed by Kathryn Bigelow, ex wife of James Cameron. Lets guess the awards winners ....

Best picture:

My prediction: AVATAR

The cinematic experience was changed completely after AVATAR gets released. With huge graphics, and mesmerizing special effects AVATAR is a best choice for best film. I think it mainly faces competition from "THE HURT LOCKER". With the effort and hard work, the film AVATAR was made and as it made a huge impact on film making , AVATAR definitely deserves the best film.

Best Director

My prediction: Kathryn Bigelow of "THE HURT LOCKER"

Oscar for best director usually goes to films with non-fiction story and realistic film. As "THE HURT LOCKER" is an Iraq based war film and a realistic action drama , I guess, director Kathryn Bigelow has more chances than James Cameron. And also, she bagged prestigious Director's guild award , which is a step to achieve Oscar. So, my guess will be Kathryn Bigelow.

these are my guesses for the Oscars..remaining departments i don't have much knowledge so i can't presume...Lets wait till March 7th, 2010 for official winners.

can anybody tell me the exact plot of MULHOLLAND DRIVE

Hi....I am wondering any body has understood the movie "Mulholland Dr." According to critics, it is the best noir-psychological thriller.
the plot is :- A bright-eyed young actress travels to Hollywood, only to be ensnared in a dark conspiracy involving a woman who was nearly murdered, and now has amnesia because of a car crash. Eventually, both women are pulled into a psychotic illusion involving a dangerous blue box, a director named Adam Kesher, and the mysterious night club Silencio.

It is with such a non-linear plot... you can't see such a non-linearity in any movie....and the scenes fluctuate between dreams and real world. Till now, nobody understood the film completely. Director David Lynch in one interview gave some clues ( points) to understand this thriller. If any body watched and understood completely...I salute him :)

Sandra bullock will win Oscar for best actress in a motion picture -2009

Oscar buzz is on....and I personally think that Sandra bullock is going to win Oscar for best actress for 2009. 2009 is meant for Sandra Bullock. She gave the career best performance in NFL quarter back biographical film " The Blind side". She is the only famous actress in that film and she carried her role very nicely and elegantly. The scene where she cries in car after leaving Michael Oher in the climax is simply fabulous.

I hope and wish she will get the Oscar for 'the blind side' . She already got Golden globe in to her feather. Kudos to SANDRA BULLOCK !!!!! one of the finest actress of hollywood......
